2011

January has surely been an exciting month for Vision DJs. So much has happened in just the first 31 days of the year. Let me share with you some of the highlights.

One of the biggest announcements we had starting the New Year was the relocation of  our Miami office. As some of you may be aware of, Signature Gardens; a legendary Catering Facility for over 20 years closed its doors on December 5th, 2010. Our Miami office was fortunate to share this location for the past 10 years and we were very sad to see a piece of South Florida history come to an end. We are not only going to miss having our office located there but also all the amazing memories we were able to be a part of with so many families. From Weddings to Quinces to Bar/Bat Mitzvahs to extravagant Holiday Parties and unforgettable New Years Eve Celebrations! We are sure going to miss the events at the Signature Gardens and all the friends we made throughout the years which we hope to remain in contact with.

So with that being said, our Miami office has been relocated to a beautiful office space conveniently located at 7296 SW 40th Street which is East of the Palmetto Expressway and SW 40th or more commonly known as Bird Rd. Our office hours are Monday-Wednesday 10:00am – 6:00pm, Thursdays 10:00am – 8:00pm and Fridays 10:00am – 4:00pm.

Next on the list is the redesign of our website. The new design is cleaner, quicker and provides lots of great information for planning you next celebration. www.visiondjs.com There is also a mobile version available at http://m.visiondjs.com

Another Happy Bride!

January 11, 2011

To Whom It May Concern:

First and foremost, allow me to use this letter to thank Vision DJs, its management and staff for making my wedding celebration a fantastic event. This is my story.

I had my initial consultation with Vision DJs back in August 2010 for my December 2010 wedding. During the meeting with Jorge Hernandez, I quickly realized that the company was professional, courteous, streamlined and attentive to even the smallest of details. I decided to book it for the DJ and projector services.

Right after the consultation, I started to receive a stream of emails directing my attention to an online application for music selection. This application was easy-to-use, provided great song samples and (the absolute most helpful feature) was the song selection examples for each of the required events: processional, recessional, garter toss, etc. The application made my wedding day music selection easy and stress-free. As a satisfied customer wishing to compliment your company, I hope you never stray away from this modus operandi. It truly works and only reaffirms my initial impression of the professionalism, experience and customer-oriented aim of this company.

Moving on, two weeks before our wedding date, I had my final consultation with Jorge Antonatos. I brought my mom along for support, opinion and reassurance. Throughout the encounter, we went over every single (and I mean every single, absolute) detail about the music for my wedding. Not a second of the wedding was left to the imagination! I was able to imagine how my wedding day would unfold as Mr. Antonatos played each song. Moreover, he suggested alternatives and showed us the cues for each song switch. More importantly, he truly took the time to listen, to help, to fulfill my every request. Needless to say, at the end of the encounter, my mom was in love (and I mean, head over heels) for the company and its employees. We were blown away with the process and the customer service.

After the meeting, we were notified that our DJ would be Stephen. Per our request, Stephen contacted us right away. For a moment, I thought I would have to go over all the details previously discussed with Mr. Antonatos with Stephen. To my pleasant surprise, Stephen had all the information including the set up of the projector screen and the DJ façade. After the phone call, I knew I was in good hands.

Finally, my wedding day arrived. It was December 26th, 2010. Stephen was on time, impeccably dressed, set up all the equipment without a hitch and was ready to go on a timely manner. During the ceremony, the music was right on cue and the sound level was perfect. Each and every song played exactly as discussed and how it was meant to be. I was elated. Though I wasn’t present, the cocktail hour had the right type of music for mingling and conversation. Finally, at the reception, each of the special dances (first dance, bride-uncle, and bride-brother) had the specific music it required and at the time it needed to be played. The Gobo (on the dance floor) looked beautiful.

Moreover, the slide presentation I had made, played smoothly and just right. He was able to set up the projector and un-do the set up in such a way that most people didn’t even notice. The transition was unnoticeable. When it was time to dance, Stephen riled up the crowd and got everyone off their feet and into the dance floor. In fact, at one point I tried to visit all the tables to take a picture with all the attendees individually…but, ended up discarding the idea on account of the fact, that no one (absolutely no one) was at their tables. He got everyone up and dancing the night away. He was fantastic at reading the crowd and judging which types of songs to play. The night ended on a high note; and we all went home very pleased. The party was a success – and to a great extent, it was thanks to Stephen.

Please pass along my gratitude to all the aforementioned. Rest assured that I would definitely recommend this company to anyone in need of DJ services. In fact, I am proud to say you were by far the best vendor I worked with for my wedding.

I have many more incredible stories about my wedding celebration. However, I know you probably need to get back to making people’s music wishes come true. Therefore, and once again, thank you! I wish you and the company a great year and a prosperous future.

Best Regards,

Juliet Vento & Andres Gonzalez

Great way to start 2011

Good afternoon Jorge,

I just wanted to thank you very much for your services. My wedding was on Dec. 11th, and our DJ was Albert. He was awesome! Not only did he play great music and follow my request list, he was also very nice. When I arrived with my husband and we were waiting for introductions, he actually brought us drinks and appetizers! He went above and beyond the call of duty and we just wanted to say “thank you”. We had a beautiful day and we were extremely happy with how smoothly everything went.

Thank you,

Venessa & Alex

Are Your Vendors Backed Up?

This is a true story that happened on October 16, 2010.

It started as a regular Saturday with several Weddings and Quinces/Sweet 16′s throughout South Florida. All of our DJs were ready to entertain and make a special day even more spectacular for our clients, family and friends. They had their music play-lists, pressed Tuxedos and the best sounding equipments in South Florida ready to go.

As I was getting ready to head out to my event I received a frantic phone call from one of our DJs stating that he was just involved in a Hit and Run accident on his way to his event. Of course my first reaction was to panic, but after a few seconds I was able to get it together and respond  to the situation. My first question was “are you okay” he answered “yes, but I am not sure about my equipment” (What else would a DJ say?) My next question was, “will you be able to make it to your event on time” His answer was “no, my car is being towed and I am going to be taken to the Hospital”.

It was time to put our emergency back up plan to work and ensure that his event would be covered without delay. I immediately placed a call to our on-call back up DJ, I assigned him to the event I was going to do as it started a bit later, and then immediately headed to the Newport Beach Resort in Sunny Isles to cover the wedding of the DJ who was involved in the accident. I had an hour and a half to get there from Kendall, set up 12 Up-lights and sound equipment before the guest entered the ballroom.  We got there 15 minutes after our usual set up time and I was also fortunate to have an assistant who quickly set up the lights, as I worked on setting up the sound system. With about 20 minutes to spare all was set up, music was ready and we were ready to have a great time with the Bride, the Groom and their guests. The room was full of men in skirts, (actually Kilts) because the grooms family is Scottish. I began my introductions while a Bagpipe Player played and the Bridal Party entered the room.  I  continued introducing the Bride and Groom as they were ushered in while the bagpipes played and their guests chanted.  Their entrance was followed by a beautiful Choreographed first Dance,  “Follow Through” by Gavin Degra. The night continued with lots of drinking and dancing until it was time to say goodnight. Right before I was getting ready to play the last dance I was approached by one of the guests who requested that I play the “Hokey Pokey”, although I was hesitant at first (haven’t played that song in years), I felt out the mood of the room and played the song. I am glad that I did, it was a sight to see. We ended the night with “What A Wonderful World” by Louis Armstrong.  It was truly an amazing night!

What I want to express in this post  is the importance of all of your vendors having an emergency plan.  I  can not begin to tell you the stories we have heard  about vendors having issues/glitch at an event and NOT having a  back up plan in place. If you are hiring a Photographer or DJ, ask them what is their emergency back up plan just in case something like the above happens. Make sure your photographer has additional back up equipment (ie. Batteries, Flash, Camera). Your DJ should have an additional source of music, just in case his laptop or hard drive crashes – and make sure it is with them, at your event and not “Back” at their house or place of business. Make sure the is a replacement person available just in case of an accident or illness.

Murphy’s Law states “Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong” it’s how you prepare and how the situation is handled that will make the difference!

Fortunately in our 25 years of serving South Florida, we have learned from our experiences and those of others and it has taught us how being prepared and backed up can make all the difference in case of an emergency. I am happy to say that our DJ only suffered some scratches and bruises and  all of our events that day went off without a hitch, and none of our Brides or Grooms ever worried  that a glitch had occurred. Our clients had an amazing time sharing their Special day with their friends and family while being entertained by one of South Florida’s most amazing DJs and MCs.

Yes, I am being biased -  but it remains true. “Our DJs make the Difference”!

Sound Advice

Madonna said it best: “Music Makes People Come Together”

Which is why the music you choose to play at your wedding reception is such an important part of the planning process. Wedding music is like the soundtrack of your favorite film, it can set the mood, add romance, punctuate dramatic entrances and keep the party pumped. It can also help you personalize your festivities, whether you and your beau are Classical music buffs, Jazz gurus or Top 40 junkies. But it’s ultimate responsibility is clear: To propel your guest from their tables and onto their feet in unbridled celebration of your union.

THE COCKTAIL HOUR During the first 1/2 hour to an hour of your reception there will be cocktail sipping, mingling, chatting and of course nibbling. The music you play should be a smooth transition from the emotionally charged ceremony, to setting the mood for your reception festivities. Think non-intrusive, romantic songs that carry-not collide- with conversation. The decibel lever should be such that chatting is a breeze-the better your guest get to know each other now, the more fun they’re bound to have later.

THE FIRST DANCE Though the most popular time for the newlywed dance is right after the formal introductions, some brides and grooms will choose to wait until after dinner to take their first spin on the floor.  The choice is yours. Either way, the first dance is the moment that you physically reiterated what your ceremony just stated-that you and your beloved are now a singular unit. It is a traditionally a slow dance but lately brides and groom have been getting creative with their first dance. Here’s an example.

PARENT DANCES After the newlywed dance, many brides and grooms choose to add a few more dances: namely, the bride and her  father and the groom and his mother. At times the bridal party also gets invited to dance. All these dances can be personalized, as well. The point is to have fun.

DINNER TIME Choosing music for dinner is just as important as choosing music for your dancing. Choose very slow and monotone music can put your guest into a very monotone mood. Now we don’t suggest you choose the Black Eyed Peas during dinner but we also don’t suggest you play an hour of Kenny G or just Classical music. Variety is the key, Micheal Buble, Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett are some jazzy favorites. Want a little bit more modern music, how about Jack Johnson, Nora Jones, Dave Matthew or even some really cool U2. Flamenco like the Gipsy Kings and Ottmar Liebert are also very popular. And of course who could forget those amazing artists like Marvin Gaye and Al Greene. Like we said, variety is the key, mix them all together like a pot of Minestrone soup.

THE RECEPTION Any good DJ knows that every party has a beginning, middle and end. The music should warm up the audience, jimmy them out of their seats, build momentum, and then usher them out with a smile on their faces. To help in the selections if your music, Vision DJs offer an online interactive music database with over 75,000 songs you can use to listen to music and create that perfect playlist. When selecting your music their are a few things to consider. Although we encourage our clients to choose music they like, we also suggest to choose music your guest will enjoy as well. Take a look at your guest list and choose songs you know will get them all on the dance floor. Also when selecting your “dance music”, keep in mind that good listening music is not always the best “dance music”. If you really want to ensure your guest will get up on their feet and shake their collective groove thang, choose songs from our no-fail Top 200 Party Songs. Here is our current List. This list is updated monthly so check back often,

THE LAST DANCE As with the first dance, many of today’s couples are also taking great care in choosing the evening’s last song, their last opportunity to inject whimsy, style, and personality into their guests’ collective memories. And while we all love Donna Summers “Last Dance (my favorite), we think brides and grooms need a few more options for their last prance of the party: “Save the Last Dance for Me” Micheal Buble is a big winner as well as “Don’t Stop Believing” Journey which  has made a huge comeback this year. Some popular songs for our Latin friend are “No Hay Cama Pa Tanta Gente” El Grand Combo de Puerto Rico, a traditional “Cuban Conga (not Conga by Gloria) and for Venezuela “La Alma Llanera“.
